Aftercare
Method 1: transparent second skin bandages (Second Skin, Dermalize)
1. As instructed leave bandage on up to 3 days. You can shower normally with the plaster applied, but do not soak it in water. If there is water underneath the foil after taking a shower, remove it immediately. Also, remove the foil if it peeled back and is not covering the tattoo fully anymore, or your skin starts to feel itchy underneath the foil.
2. Remove bandage in a warm shower, gently clean with just water or unscented antibacterial soap, pat dry and let it rest for 2 hrs before using light unscented moisturizer. When removing the foil there is residual ink sticking to the back of it, also you’ll feel a sting just like when you’re removing a regular plaster. This may look and feel like you’re peeling away the tattoo, but don’t worry everything is fine :).
3. Keep the tattoo clean and moisturize daily. DO NOT over moisturize. Use a thin layer 1-4 times throughout the day.
4. It will take about 2 weeks to heal depending how much work is done. During this time avoid saunas, steam rooms, solariums, swimming, bathing – basically everything that exposes the fresh tattoo to too much humidity and stresses the skin. Keep the tattoo clean and watch out for excessive friction.
5. Keep heavy physical activity to a minimum and avoid excessive stretching of the spot.
6. If irritation, discomfort, rancid smell occurs , please remove bandage immediately and clean with unscented soap and let it fully dry (DO NOT apply any cream), or email me bookings@email.com for any questions or concerns.
Method 2: Dry Heal/Cling film
1. Take off wrapping as soon as you get one. If applied with a tattoo pad, overnight is fine.
2. Wash gently with just warm water or unscented soap.
Optional but recommended: take a clean hand towel and soak it with hot water from the tap (DO NOT use boiling water from a kettle!). Lightly wring out the towel and apply it to the tattoo. Repeat this 3 to 4 times. This WILL burn and be unpleasant, but it’ll open up the pores and drain the accumulated liquids. This decreases swelling and helps the tattoo heal faster. Repeat this procedure the next morning.
3. Pat dry with soft paper towel.
4. When the tattoo is completely dry [no weeps] let it rest for 12-24 hours before applying a thin layer of unscented moisturizer.
5. Reapply lotion 1-4 times a day, whenever it is dry and the skin feels tight.
